Jurong Community Hospital
Address:1 Jurong East Street 21, Singapore 609606
https://www.jch.com.sg/
Description:
The 400-bed Jurong Community Hospital (JCH) offers post-acute and rehabilitative care. It complements care provided by restructured hospitals such as the adjoining Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, so that patients who no longer require acute care can recuperate in a setting better catered to their needs.
JCH was built together with Ng Teng Fong General Hospital from the ground up as one integrated healthcare hub. The twinned hospitals were designed to deliver seamless patient-centred care, providing the right care at the right place and at the right time. Siting JCH adjacent to NTFGH allows for convenient and safe transfer of patients from acute care to post-acute and continuing care facilities. The co-location of both hospitals allows for better coordinated and integrated care as patients will benefit from the co-management by doctors from NTFGH and JCH.
JCH is also the first community hospital in Singapore to feature a LIFE Hub and Mobility Park for patient education and rehabilitation.
LIFE Hub aims to help seniors remain healthy and independent at home. It features a three-room HDB flat mock-up, which serves to help patients ease back into their home environment under the guidance of our therapists. It will showcase a variety of products and provide practical solutions that patients can use to help them live more safely and independently in the home setting. It will also offer an information hub and educational area for patients and their caregivers.
A first in Singapore, the Mobility Park simulates a public transport setting featuring an actual MRT carriage, bus and taxi, complete with ramps and steps. It provides patients with a safe environment to re-adjust to taking public transport, going out on their own, etc. before they return to their daily lives.
Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore (RRIS)
An Asian-Centric Research Institute Focusing On Human Ability, Through Data-Driven Approaches
Address: 11 Mandalay Road, #14-03 Clinical Sciences Building, Singapore 308232
Highlights:
The Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore (RRIS) is committed to research projects designed to provide solutions rooted in robotics, AI and machine learning technologies. This research is supported by a massive database of information across a broad demographic of the Asian population related to movement and ability in healthy individuals and those with degenerative disease.
Using this information, healthcare providers will be able to predict recovery, plan rehabilitation programmes and provide highly-personalised care with a focus on prevention.
The work that we do at RRIS revolves around three core pillars: Ability Data, Precision Rehabilitation and Assisted Ability.
We have the world’s largest Asian-centric database on human physical abilities and use this data and add to it through our research and through collaboration with partners. Our work in data-driven Precision Rehabilitation aims to make early diagnosis and intervention, reduce impairment, improve ability and encourage participation in neurological, musculoskeletal and ageing-related conditions.
We support these objectives through our work on Assisted Ability, where we develop rehabilitation and assistive robots using assistive technology to support recovery and mobility in the home, in sports and in the workplace.
